FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

I am interested in having my book published by WMP:
for this, do I need an agent?

WMP prefers to hear directly from you, the author. No agent is required to open up discussion with us, simply your interest, a book to propose to us, and your contacting us. We will communicate directly with people who are creating books and who find the Mission Statement of WMP inspiring.

How do I contact WMP?

Just click on the “Contact Us” link in the sidebar (the menu on the left).

Should I send my manuscript for WMP to look at?

Please begin by contacting us with information about the work you have prepared for publication, including the type or genre of the text, along with a succinct summary of its contents, and a Table of Contents, if informative. We will continue from there.

For more specific information about this, click on the “Submit Your Work”  link in the sidebar (the menu on the left).

After we have a chance to understand your work, if we want to see a sample of it, we will ask for that (as digital files only) at the appropriate time. Material not requested will not be reviewed. Please do not send us printed texts.

Will my book be published as a hardcover, a softcover, or as an eBook?

Once the decision to work with producing your book is made and we have come to an agreement, we will together decide about whether to have it as a hardcover or a softcover, or in both formats. Each book will also be published as an eBook.

Do I need to have an ISBN before I contact WMP?

If we come to an agreement about publishing your work, WMP will take care of obtaining the required ISBNs for the book.

What is an ISBN?

Each book now published throughout the world has a unique number assigned to it. Each number will identity the book by full title, its form (whether hardcover, softcover, or digital/eBook), the edition (first, second, etc.), and the publisher. These numbers are assigned by organizations that have that authority in the given country of publication.

How long does it take to publish a book?

This depends in large part on how close the manuscript is to final formatting, and on how long the manuscript is. In general, the full time from having a manuscript in publishable form and the procedures that must be completed to bring the book to publication and to the sales market through world-wide distribution is a matter of several months. In some cases it can be briefer (two to four months, perhaps, in many cases) or might be longer (if there is extensive reformatting and/or proof-reading and editing required).

Do I have to have a large market already established in order to publish a book with WMP?

No. We are looking for quality of text. A great twentieth-century philosopher, Ludwig Wittgenstein, wrote in the beginning of the Preface to his revolutionary text, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, that his book's "object would be attained if there were one person who read it with understanding and to whom it afforded pleasure."
